Peer Review Process
JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH (JER) operates a rigorous peer-review process that ensures scholarly excellence. All manuscripts submitted to for publication are double-blind peer-reviewed according to the following procedure: JER
Initial Review (technical review): The Editor-in-Chief and the Editor evaluate each manuscript to determine if the submitted manuscript has fulfilled all the predetermined criteria and that its topic and content is suitable for consideration by the JER. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum criteria are returned to the authors within one week of receipt.
Peer Review: The manuscripts firstly passes through the initial review. In the initial review, the paper is undergoing though journal and section editors review. Editors check for the suitability of the concept of the journal criteria as set in author guidelines, furthermore, its manuscript is being checked for plagiarism as well are assigned to reviewers. Secondly, each paper undergoes evaluation by at least one reviewer of the respected field (Double-blind review). Blind Reviewers are assigned by section or guest editor for evaluation of the manuscript, which should be based on the review form of the journal. The review process is conducted anonymously. Referees evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, content, soundness among others. The referees are asked to complete their reviews within 2 to 5 weeks. The reviewers' recommendations are as follows:
- Accept Submission means that the reviewer recommends that the manuscript is acceptable without any improvement.
- Revision Required means that reviewer recommends that the manuscript needs minor improvement without having to review again.
- Resubmit for Review means that the reviewer recommends that the manuscript needs to be reviewed again by a reviewer because of too many revisions needed.
- Decline Submission means the reviewer recommends that the manuscript is rejected. It is usually related to the script quality.
The manuscript should be accepted by two of the reviewers to proceed in other technical steps before publishing. If one of the reviewers accepts and the second rejects the manuscript, the journal section or gest editor sends the paper for the second round of evaluation to the other two respected field reviewers. Thus in these cases, the final decision is based on the second round which is also the final round that the manuscript may be evaluated.
JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH (JER) does not reveal the identity of the reviewers to the authors and vice versa in order to implement the double-blind peer-review process. The result of the review itself will be shared only with the corresponding author.
